I'm a member of SCBWI and am writing an edgy YA sci-fi and love my story & characters. My writing persona is "One of the Real Goth Housewives of Buncombe County." JM - I am a mental health counselor in private practice. I'm working on a YA novel that is based on a composite of several of my teen age patients. I am not married but do have one dog, a Miniature Schnauzer named Mulligan.
CB - Book Pitch: "Family secrets unravel in Charlotte in 1950 when a 13-year-old white girl and a 14-year-old light-skinned African American girl discover they are second cousins." This idea has been swimming around in my head for several years and I dug in and started it 2 years ago during my first NaNo. I started over when I switched to first POV whereby discovering my character's voice.
BD is writing a MG fantasy novel that mixes science, dragons, politics and even a little theology in a fictional country akin to an early 1900's cross between America and Europe. Some say it's steampunk, and maybe it is...but just barely. We'll see when it's done!
